Grading
Grading will consist of assessment opportunities that occur each week to determine student progress toward meeting the course goals and outcomes. Nine weeks average will be calculated on test grades, quiz grades, and daily classwork grades according to the weighted scale below. Each nine weeks will be worth 40% and the other 20% will be from a final exam taken at the end of the semester. This is subject to change due to Hybrid or Distance learning methods.
Notes and Guided Practice: Notes and test reviews are not counted in the grades but are usually allowed to be used on tests and quizzes.
Major Assessments – Test/Projects, these will be weighted at 50%. Each module will have a test and/or a project. Each project will be based on the learning objectives for the module.
Mid-Level Assessments - Quizzes and short projects will be weighted at 30%.
Practice - Classwork is weighted at 20% of the quarter grade and based on completion of the assignment. Individual assignments will be given as practice to master skill and they could include online assessments. If ten problems are assigned one night and only five out of the ten are done, then the grade will be a fifty I am not looking for the correct answer to every question; I just want to see that an honest effort was made to solve the problem and a general understanding of the material is present.
Late Assignments: For daily classwork, late assignments will be accepted up until the test day. The practice prepares the student for the quizzes and the quizzes and they will prepare you for the tests. Make-up tests, quizzes and projects will be based on the number of days a person has missed.
